This is the place where the largest volcanic eruption of the 20th century happened in 1912. An entire valley was filled with ash flow from the eruption of a mountain called Novarupta.
The valley is part of the Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska.
The rivers cut gorges through the ash
We have camped in tents in the lower part of the valley
The guardian of the camp
the path along the valley
small tree on carpet
The gorges are deeper in the upper part of the valley
the clouds are coming
